The CHP-70 is the all new paper cone full range audio driver from Markaudio. This driver is the first in a new technology line from Markaudio. The development program had taken much effort. Most of the effort was directed to the development of the cone. Its unique design is low-mass and follows the “engineered” approach of its designer, Mark Fenlon who passionately believes in making all critical components to a very tight specification. The cone is the first of its type to be integrated into a production process know as Multi Form Mass Reflex, a Markaudio technology that delivers “Aerospace” tolerances during manufacture. Other performance critical components have been upgraded. The rear suspension (spider) is made from a newer form of material. This feature delivers a close control over the excursion of the driver ʼs movement. The cap to coil bonding process is also a feature. The adhesive used comes from Aerospace bonding technology.
Looks are also important. The CHP-70 is a bold step forward to integrate all the major components into a visual colour co-ordinated approach. There ʼs more “visual appeal” coming from the CHP-70. System builders have an excellent opportunity to make new interesting designs that break away from typical older design box design styling. The outcome is “pure music”. The bass is very robust for this size of driver while the middle and high range delivery is accurate, revealing many details.
